Title: Stock/Crypto Analyst

Location: Remote

Employment Type: Contract

Requirements

We are looking for writers who meet the following criteria:

  • A genuine interest in at least one: stocks or cryptocurrencies
  • Experience investing in either is helpful.
  • For crypto analysts having a basic understanding of blockchain technology is required.
  • For stock analysts having a basic understanding of income statements and balance sheets is required.
  • Excellent grammar.
  • You preferably use a tool such as Grammarly as a backup to catch issues you missed.
  • You’re conscious of writing elements beyond grammar that make text easy and enjoyable to read: varied sentence structure, rich vocabulary, succinctness.
  • Attention to detail.
  • For this job, the quality of writing is more important than speed or volume.
  • Mistakes are inevitable, but you should perform due diligence in inspecting your own work for mistakes so that you minimize errors.
  • You have the ability to do independent research.
  • You should be able to fact-check and distinguish between reliable and unreliable sources.
  • You should be able to read and summarize other sources without plagiarizing content.
  • Familiarity with the principles of Halal investing is helpful.

Assignments

  • Articles on Practical Islamic Finance range from 300 to 800 words.
  • Articles will most commonly be around 500 words.
  • Authors write all of their content in Google Docs.
  • We will work together to figure out article topics that are at the intersection of what you are interested in writing about and what our readership wants to read about.

What Makes This Job Unique

This job differs from most other content writer positions in a few important ways:

  • The content is accessible and trustworthy
  • When a user reads an article, they should feel like it answers their question sufficiently in a language they understand.
  • The reader should never feel like the article is forcing them to read fluff they don’t care about or jargon they need to decode.
  • The content is for people, not search engines.

Deadlines should be met.

PIF has a content publishing schedule. If you tell us that you’ll deliver work by Wednesday but then we hear nothing from you Wednesday, that creates problems. Occasional delays are not a big deal as long as you keep the editor informed.

Payment Rate

Although it’s common for clients to pay freelancers per word, this project is deliberately paid per article.

Bonuses will be given for exceptional submissions based on the discretion of the editorial team.

Certain articles are longer, more in-depth, and may require more time and effort than normal. In which case we will pay per hour.

When paying per hour is deemed appropriate, everything you do as part of producing articles is billable time. We will pay for the hours you spend researching, writing, and editing articles.

We don’t micromanage. As long as you’re delivering quality work, we won’t ever dissect your billable hours.

It is your responsibility to honor weekly limits on billable hours. We cannot pay for hours billed beyond our agreed weekly maximum.

Payment Method

We prefer to pay biweekly using Zelle or Paypal, but we can discuss other options.

If we pay you more than $600 in a given year, we will need to collect a W-9 form from you so that we can properly report your pay as a freelance contractor on our business tax returns.

Attribution and Rights

Articles on Practical Islamic Finance do not have links to the author’s websites.

Practical Islamic Finance retains full intellectual property rights to all content that writers produce during the hours for which they bill. Before writers begin working for Practical Islamic Finance, they will receive a freelance writing contract to sign that spells out the details of the intellectual property rights.

Title: Email Marketing Manager

Location: Remote

Overview

PIF is looking to hire an email marketing manager to be responsible for our end-to-end email marketing strategy, including writing copy, managing our email database, compiling a weekly customer newsletter, and more. This individual will work closely with the content and product teams, particularly leadership, to identify how to best target user groups and develop the email content they’re seeking. The ideal candidate will collaborate across functions to deliver an effective email marketing strategy to meet the business objectives in the most efficient and cost-effective manner.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with content and product teams to identify our target email audience and grow our email list, using particularly placed sign up forms and gated content throughout the larger website
  • Design and implement direct email marketing campaigns. This includes (but is not limited to) developing copy and subject lines, designing email templates, building email lists, and more.
  • Manage and report on email marketing campaigns and results; use results to determine ROI, make suggestions for improvements, and establish best practices
  • Ensure prompt, accurate, and error-free communication with customers to build loyal relationships and minimize unsubscribes
  • Work with leadership to determine goals; report on sales revenue generated from email marketing efforts
  • Maintain email database
  • Upgrade email sends through sourced graphics, customization, calls-to-action, and additional advanced features
  • Ensure emails follow industry standards and privacy policies

Requirements:

  • 1+ years of digital marketing, marketing analytics, or email marketing experience, preferably in a related industry
  • Strong communication skills – written and oral
  • Impeccable grammar, writing skills, and deep understanding of direct vs. indirect email copy
  • Ability to track, measure, and report on results of email marketing campaigns to determine ROI
  • Sufficient experience in marketing automation and content management systems
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to provide actionable insights from data
  • Solid understanding of the sales lifecycle
  • HTML Knowledge preferred
  • Self-starter with a history of pushing for deadline-driven results

Title: Blog Manager

Responsibilities

As a content strategist, the Blog Manager’s goal is to ensure PIF is investing in creating content that increases leads and sales.

Some of the main blog management responsibilities include:

  • Leading brainstorming sessions
  • Developing a content strategy and prioritizing blog topics
  • Managing a blogging calendar (make sure posts go out on schedule)
  • Hiring and managing writers
  • Guiding the coordination between professional writers and internal contributors
  • Teaching and training internal contributors
  • Finding and managing guest bloggers
  • Analyzing results

It’s also the Blog Manager’s responsibility to ensure all blog posts follow best practices, such as:

  • Search engine optimization
  • Format & layout
  • Readability
  • Graphics
  • Hyperlinks (interlinking articles)
  • Calls-to-actions
  • Proofread

Requirements

  • Excellent writing skills
  • Familiarity with blogging best practices

Title: Financial Editor

Overview

The PracticalislamicFinance.com.com team is looking for a part-time freelance financial editor who has demonstrated exceptional ability both as an investment analyst and writer. This position is best suited for analytical and detail-oriented stock market investing enthusiasts who can review text and determine if a financial argument is coherent and sufficiently supported.

You will be working with other writers and editors – who together make PracticalislamicFinance.com the best place on the internet for content related to halal investing. You will coach writers on how to strengthen their financial analysis and be a line of defense to ensure all content reviewed and published is accurate and easy to follow.

Responsibilities
